Vivaldi: Autumn: ii - Guitar and Strings

Peter Inglis and his ensemble "Baroque to Rock" perform his arrangement of Vivaldi's famous "Autumn" from the "Four Seasons" (Il Quattro Stagioni).

The 2nd movement: "Ubriachi dormienti" (Drunk and asleep).

Second movement of Vivaldi's Autumn. This is a truly beautiful adagio. The soothing melody disguises some absolutely startling modulations. It is hard to believe it was written in 1723, these progressions would still have sounded "new" in 1923! They seem to foreshadow impressionism by 200 years.
